The Olympic Orchestra Climbs the Great Wall

The Olympic Orchestra played on the Great Wall on August 4th 2008.
First the Red Band, then the Green Band.

We had our breakfast at 0530 and met our buses at 0630 for an early take off. met at the buses at 0630. The convoy of buses were ready and waiting.

The bus driver likes his horn. He passes on curves.

Teenagers don't necessarily like waking up early, and resumed and wasted no time on the bus going back to sleep.
Others were a bit more awake.

It was a three hour ride.

We made it to the base of the Great Wall.
It was quite a hike up to the place where the band performed.

Despite the heat and the hike, they ready themselves quickly.

The Color Guard performed above our band.
Hearing the band while atop the wall was surreal.
